The holidays are over. It's time for something new!

Newsletter August 2013

For most people the holiday's are over, for us it is no different. Feeling relaxed and refreshed we have been back and hard at work for two weeks already. Read more about what we are currently working on, here.

Museums and galleries are already hard at work, working on the autumn exhibitions and the budgets for 2014. We have therefore devised a "free" special offer so you can test if your visitors think that the Podcatcher is a good addition to your services and what they think of the museum or gallery in general. Read more about the offer in the article on the three month free trial.

Many museums and galleries are looking into the possibilities of Apps. Nice and easy because the visitor uses their own phone. But the amount of downloads of most current Apps are far lower than expected. Most visitors just seem not to be ready yet. We offer a solution to this issue. We just offer you both the Podcatcher and the Podcatcher App so you do not have to choose, and your visitors are free to use both. It's that simple.

Over the last few weeks some new projects have started. Visitors of the Walker Art Gallery(Liverpool), Kröller-Müller Museum(Otterlo) and Östasiatiska museet(Stockholm), can now enjoy the Podcatcher audio tour. And we are also proud to announce that Bristol Museums, the PSV stadium and Bannockburn will be offering the Podcatcher to their visitors soon.

Starting this month the new Podcatcher Classic V2 is available. During the coming months we will be adding another two types of Podcatcher; the Podcatcher Bookmark and the Podcatcher Interactive. More details are available further on in this newsletter.

I hope you enjoy reading the following articles.

Best wishes,

Frits Polman,
Managing Director Guide ID Europe.

3 Month free Trial

Give the Podcatcher and App to all your visitors for free.

Are you thinking of offering an audio tour to your visitors. Then why not try it now for free, for three months and evaluate what your visitors think of it. We ofter hear that museums and galleries question the idea of using audio guides. We know from research that visitors really appreciate an audio tour.

Use our trial offer and find out what your visitors want. Offer the Podcatcher and App to visitors for free for three months. During the trial we will do daily research. After 3 months you will have a good insight into what your visitors think, what the most popular objects are and how many visitors enjoyed your tour. Based on this confirmed data you can make a decision whether to keep offering the tour or not.

There is no risk involved for you. If you would like more information, then please contact one of our business managers.

Podcatcher or app?

Why not both!

The biggest current hype within the heritage world is Apps. But don't forget that most general heritage visitors either do not have a smartphone, do have one but don't use it as one, or don't want to use it while visiting. The Guide ID platform has been developed to offer something for all visitors, with and without smartphones.

There is one central location where you can develop content or get content developed for you. Afterwards, your content is automatically available on all Podcatchers for visitors without a smartphone, and as a Android and iOS App for visitors with a smartphone.

This gives you one system for guiding 100% of your visitors.

Walker Art Gallery, Kröller-Müller Museum, Ostasiatiska Museet

Walker Art Gallery says; We chose the Podcatcher because it is so simple for visitors to use, but also because it requires minimal supervision from our visitor services team. We have a very diverse target group and needed something that would work well for a wide audience. The Podcatcher ticked all the boxes. The fact that we can also use the platform for visitor research and to promote our shop, café and special events is a great added bonus. We look forward to adding another tour for the David Hockney exhibition this coming October. More details at
www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/walker.

After earlier good experiences with the Podcatcher, Kröller-Müller has asked us to expand the current tours with the Podcatcher for their anniversary exhibition, Top 75. They are really happy with all the enthusiastic reactions they receive from visitors. More information at www.kmm.nl.

The Östasiatiska museet in Stockholm uses the Podcatcher for all their visitors. With its central location in the center of Stockholm, its a perfect location for us to get the rest of Stockholm to experience the Podcatcher. More information at www.varldskulturmuseerna.se.

Visitors and staff are very happy with the
Podcatcher because it is so simple.

The improved Podcatcher

The Podcatcher Classic V2

Starting this month the Podcatcher Classic V2 is available. Besides having a larger memory capacity, it also has an improved ergonomic design and it is suitable for even more detailed visitor research and evaluation.

Soon we will be adding another 2 types of Podcatcher;

1. The Podcatcher Bookmark; It will have an extra button which visitors can use to indicate that they like certain objects so that they can receive further information or want to share it on Facebook or twitter.

2. The Podcatcher Interactive; It has special buttons so you can use the Podcatcher as a remote control to select video's, or for example play an interactive game and control a character.

Come and see the platform live

The Podcatcher Walk-in's are the perfect opportunity to experience the platform yourself and see what it's like for visitors. The Walk-in's have a very informal setting. The idea is for you and your colleagues to take a tour as if you are a visitor and then to meet with one of our Business Managers for a short chat and a coffee. This will give you the opportunity to receive more specific information and ask questions.
